“We employed Pd-m to design and develop a new flagship product. They adopted a structured and well-organised approach from the initial fact-find through to proof-of-concepts, meeting and selecting potential suppliers, testing and final approval. Throughout, they demonstrated creative thinking and innovative problem solving, with an eye to cost at all times. I have no hesitation in recommending them and am in no doubt that we will employ their services again.”
Case Study
This project started with a blank sheet of paper. Vizstark understood the market but needed a trusted partner to take their idea through the full product development process and into commercialisation.
Our Approach
The challenge was to create a platform that could reach significant heights, yet remain compact and light enough for one person to move. All of this had to be achieved while meeting the stringent EN 282 regulatory directive. These requirements shaped every aspect of the design.
Working closely with Vizstark, we explored a range of design routes before moving into CAD development, prototyping, and supplier engagement. Each stage involved rigorous testing and refinement, with the goal of balancing safety, usability, and cost.
Prototyping
Through months of development, we solved the key technical challenges and created a number of patented features that gave Hugo a competitive edge. The result was a safe, practical and user-friendly solution that stood apart from traditional access equipment.
The result
The Hugo Access Platform launched at the Health & Safety Show at the NEC to excellent reception. Now used by leading organisations including The Shard, Bank of England, Nestlé, Wrigley’s, McCain Foods and Dell, Hugo has become a trusted alternative to ladders, improving workplace safety while delivering patented innovation.
