Environmental Policy

Pd-m recognises the impact that designers and their products have on the environment. The design of a product can affect the environment at all stages of its life from materials used, the manufacturing process, its use and especially its disposal.

This is why Pd-m is committed to improving its impact on the environment both as a company and in the products we help produce.

Pd-m ensures that as a company we:

  • Comply with relevant Environmental Legislation as a minimum code of practice.

  • Conduct business with companies local to the Yorkshire region in order to reduce the carbon footprint of any transportation needs. Where this is not possible, we transport materials at a full capacity by sea rather than air to reduce co2 emissions per unit.

  • Work with companies of a similar environmental policy.

  • Have a minimal impact on the environment within the company premises.

Pd-m ensures that as designers we:

  • Where possible, reduce the environmental impact of materials that go into the products we design by using biodegradable or recyclable materials.

  • Reduce the amount of unnecessary or damaging packaging for our products. Where large packaging is a necessity we explore recyclable packaging options.

Pd-m aims to:

  • Reduce the carbon footprint where possible with products manufactured in the Far East.

  • Increase the amount of products that are designed for disposal as well as use.

  • Encourage clients to consider the environmental effects of their product and to advise them of sustainable practices.

  • Continuously seek to improve environmental performance from all members of staff by research into new developments in materials technology, design processes, manufacturing processes and procedures.

  • Monitor our environmental progress by reviewing performance every 6 months or as significant improvements are made.
