Client: Lucy Zodion approached us with an ambitious goal: to create a new isolator unit specifically for the environmental demands of the Middle Eastern lighting infrastructure market. With a defined need for faster, safer installation in high-heat conditions, they required a partner capable of handling complex technical requirements while grounding the product in real-world user needs. Our experience in industrial design, regulatory compliance, and field-led research made us a natural fit.
Approach: We began with a full landscape review, benchmarking competitor solutions before immersing ourselves in the installer’s workflow. This meant handling lamppost assemblies, cabling, and tools first-hand to understand pain points and opportunities for genuine improvement.
Challenges: The product needed to simplify installation, withstand intense heat, allow safe maintenance access, and meet stringent regulatory standards. Addressing these constraints demanded computational modelling, materials testing, and repeated real-world trials to validate every decision.
Deliverables: Our work spanned user and ethnographic research, conceptualisation, industrial design, prototyping, VR-based evaluation, design for manufacture, and full compliance guidance, all aligned with the client’s internal innovation processes.
Impact: The resulting isolator is now gaining market share across the region, strengthening the client’s global position and demonstrating how targeted innovation can unlock new commercial opportunities.

Moreover, the design was intrinsically strong meaning even the most onerous installations could be accommodated whilst looking aesthetically fantastic. The result was impressive.”
